Assessing the Effectiveness of the Science and Technology Framework in Boosting R&D Practices in the UK Government

Construction of Science and Technology Framework Delayed

A year has passed since the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology was established, and now the department is evaluating the effectiveness of its plan to integrate research and development (R&D) practices across the government. In March 2023, the department introduced the Science and Technology Framework as a key step towards solidifying the UK’s position as a science and technology leader.

Although the framework may not have received widespread attention, it outlined a comprehensive strategy to incorporate science and innovation throughout various government sectors. The framework identified 10 areas of action, each with specific responsibilities assigned to each department to contribute to this overarching goal.

Now, researchers and policy experts are closely monitoring the outcomes of this framework to assess its effectiveness in advancing scientific advancements and innovations across the UK. The progress and impact of this initiative are being evaluated to determine its success in promoting R&D activities within the government.
