Southern Nevada Health District website data breach attributed to ‘Malicious Code’

Officials from the Southern Nevada Health District have informed approximately 300 clients that their personal information may have been compromised in a recent data breach on their website. The incident occurred between March 4 and March 14, when data from clients who completed transactions using the Environmental Health Invoice Payment form was redirected to a fraudulent payment form that appeared to be a credit card payment page not affiliated with the district.

To address the breach, the district has hired cybersecurity experts to secure the site and investigate the incident further. They are working closely with law enforcement to prevent future incidents and protect the security of their clients and patients. Those impacted by the breach will receive a letter from SNHD and will be offered assistance with potential identity theft and resolution services. As of now, there have been no reports of credit misuse resulting from this incident.

The Health District is committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of their clients’ information. They are continuing to work with authorities and security advisors to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. This breach serves as a reminder of the importance of staying vigilant and taking measures to protect personal information online.
