New Additions to Buffalo Bills Defense: DeShawn Williams and Austin Johnson Sign with Team for One-Year Contracts

The Bills Sign Two Defensive Tackles

The Buffalo Bills have recently signed two new defensive tackles to bolster their line. DeShawn Williams and Austin Johnson both inked one-year deals with the team.

Williams, a 31-year-old veteran, had a productive season in 2023 with the Carolina Panthers, recording 33 total tackles, seven quarterback hits, and a sack. Prior to his time in Carolina, Williams spent three seasons with the Denver Broncos, where he notched 4.5 sacks in 2022 as a defensive end. He originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2015 and saw action in four games during the 2016 season.

Johnson was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2016 but didn’t see much action until he joined the Los Angeles Chargers for his second year with the team last season. During that time, he tallied 46 total tackles and a forced fumble. Johnson will now join forces with former college and Titans teammate DaQuan Jones on the Bills’ defensive line.

The signings of these two experienced defenders add depth to the Bills’ defensive front as they look to build upon their strong performance from last season.
