Optimares’ SoFab Business Class: A Sustainable and Innovative Solution to the Airline Industry’s Challenges

Discover the Innovative Business Class Seat Design with a Sofa-Bed Feature

A boutique Italian seatmaker is shaking up the airline industry with its innovative business-class concept, the “SoFab.” This design prioritizes comfort and space while also focusing on weight reduction to minimize fuel burn. In fact, the SoFab’s bed is 25% larger than those found in similar business-class cabins.

Next month, the winners of the 2024 RedCabin Awards will be announced, recognizing innovative aircraft cabin designs that tackle industry problems such as sustainability, comfort, space, and cost. One of the shortlisted sustainability concepts comes from Optimares, a boutique Italian aerospace company. The SoFab airline business-class seat uses a convertible sofa bed instead of a fully lie-flat reclining seat, providing more passenger space while weighing significantly less than other options thanks to the use of fewer materials.

Every pound saved in the airline industry has a significant impact on fuel burn and a company’s bottom line. With its sleek and cost-focused design, the SoFab has attracted attention from industry professionals and is up for an award for sustainability from RedCabin. Additionally, it was a finalist for the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2024. It’s clear that Optimares’ “SoFab” business class is making waves in the industry.
