Unmanned boat “attacks” successfully repulsed in Gulf of Aden during Russian fleet exercises

Recently, the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy conducted exercises in the Gulf of Aden. The detachment involved two ships: missile cruiser Varyag and frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov. According to the press service, at the initial stage of the exercise, the crews practiced joint actions to destroy unmanned boats and unmanned aerial vehicles of a simulated enemy. The Russian warships successfully repelled the attacks by firing in sectors and destroying all training targets – both air and surface.

During these exercises, the Pacific Fleet detachment also practiced responding to pirate attacks. In a scenario where a merchant ship was under attack, Russian sailors came to its aid and successfully repelled the pirate attack. These exercises demonstrate the readiness and capabilities of the Russian Navy in conducting joint operations and responding to various threats at sea.
