The Moon’s Mysteries Unraveled: A Photographic Journey with Alexandra and Ariana.

Science Spotlight: The Moon

On Monday, March 25th, a stunning lunar eclipse took place. Seizing this opportunity, our intern Alexandra, along with her sister Ariana, captured some incredible photos of the moon using their telescope. The images turned out so well that one of them was even used in this thumbnail. Thank you to Ariana for her stunning shots!

Despite its beauty, how much do we really know about the moon? The moon was formed as a result of a collision that occurred around 4.5 billion years ago. Interestingly, Earth is not the only planet in our solar system that has moons. For more information on this topic, check out Jeff St. Clair’s article.

Here are some discussion questions to ponder:

1. What do you think the moon is made of?

2. Have you ever seen the moon during the day? If so, what was it like?

3. If given the chance to travel to the moon, what items would you bring with you?
