UBS CEO Sergio Ermotti: The Highest Paid Banker in Europe and a Record-Breaking Earnings for 2023

Europe’s highest-paid banker is UBS CEO, earning over 14 million euros

UBS CEO Sergio Ermotti is the highest-paid banker in Europe, earning 14.4 million Swiss francs for just nine months of work. He took over the leadership at UBS in April and was tasked with managing the takeover of Credit Suisse. Ermotti’s predecessor, Ralph Hamers, received 12.6 million francs in 2022 for twelve months of work, highlighting the significant difference in compensation between the two leaders.

In contrast to Hamers, Ermotti’s salary has been reported as 14.4 million francs in UBS’s annual report for 2023. This places him among the highest-paid banking executives globally, alongside JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon who earned $36 million last year. Ermotti’s impressive salary reflects his valuable contributions to UBS and the industry as a whole.
